Guest Post: Emmette T.

My life was never what it seemed. I look back at what my life became--a slave to addictions and all the excitement they brought.

Drugs can be used for good or bad. Knives help us in our daily life; however a knife can be deadly.

So with alcohol. Alcohol can lower blood pressure, but in excess its use is a mood altering emotional roller coaster. I know. I have learned that I cannot have one drop of alcohol because I do not have the self-control to know when to stop.

In December of 2014 I gave my heart to the Lord and I am not saying that faith is the only answer to this problem of addiction, but Jesus is my answer and my choice to follow him is the catalyst to change my life forever.

Thanks for your careful reflection here. Best to you as you continue to not drive impaired by alcohol or other drugs; also DO not text and eat while driving. Pull over to the side of the road if you need to do that.

Habit for Change

The Florida statistics says 15% of those who get their first DUI will get a second one within one year—40% within five years—70% within ten years.

I am convinced that developed HABIT has something to do with who DOES NOT get that second DUI and run the risk of killing someone.

An unknown author wrote this about HABIT.

How to Make Change Permanent

I came across 10 easy tips to keep goals or new habits.
1. Write down your goals.
2. Then cut them in half.
3. Tell someone your goals.
4. Keep track of your progress.
5. Reward yourself with each success.
6. Be optimistic.
7. Be prepared for difficulty and failure.
8. Adjust course as needed.
9. Measure growth by months and years, not days.
10. Treat each day as a brand-new beginning.

This DUI can become the best thing that has happened if it causes reflection and new habits that lead to lifestyle changes.
